No. Kargoo doesn't impersonate a guest, doesn't show up in attendee lists, and doesn't need a calendar invite. It records what your Mac is already playing and the audio coming from your microphone — quietly, locally.
In a regular folder on your Mac that you choose during setup. By default it's ~/Documents/Kargoo. You can move it any time, back it up the way you back up everything else, or sync it via iCloud or Dropbox if you want.
Only crash reports (anonymous, opt-in) and license-check pings for Pro accounts. Your audio, transcripts, summaries, and voice profiles never leave the device. Read the Privacy Statement for the full breakdown.
Kargoo uses OpenAI's Whisper model running entirely on your Mac. The default Base model gets word-error-rate around 5–8% for clear English speech. The Pro-tier Medium model improves accents, technical jargon, and noisy environments.
Recording is essentially free (a few percent of one CPU core). Transcription happens after you stop the recording, in the background, and uses Apple Silicon's Neural Engine when available. You can keep working — Kargoo doesn't lock the UI.
You keep all your existing recordings, transcripts, and summaries forever. You lose voice profiles, custom vocabulary, the Medium model, and unlimited recording. New recordings revert to Free-tier limits. No data is deleted.
For now. An iPhone companion app is in beta — it captures audio on the phone and hands it to your Mac for transcription. Windows and Linux are not on the roadmap.
